I’m going to be perfectly honest.
I don’t like summer.
I much prefer being wrapped in hats, scarves, and gloves waiting to be let into a tipi with a fire. Summer is just months of me panicking about being stung by bees and wasps, I thought Josh would be alright with them too but NO. He’s equally as terrified, so god knows what we’re going to be like when we live together one day. I don’t think I could ring my Dad every time there’s a wasp or a spider…but summer is a nice time for dresses, cocktails, and massive hats. Here’s some of my faves from the hotter times we’ve been having.

MAC Dazzleshadow Liquid in Beam Time
You can see below how I tend to use this eyeshadow. I usually steer away from liquid eyeshadows as they can be sticky or too glittery meaning they are a right nightmare to get off at the end of a long day. However, I love this little sparkle from MAC, it’s easy to apply, blend, and remove without leaving little glitter patches! It was in my saved items on ASOS for a few weeks so when payday arrived, I managed to snag it before it sold out again. I expect I’ll use it more at Christmas time as it does scream Christmas party, but I will blend it with a similar bronze eye shadow to really bring the sparkle out. You can grab yours here*.
Stradivarius Shirred Tops
I have this top in black and white and they are great for day trips to town or in our current case, staying home and sunbathing in the garden. I have plans to wear the black one with some leather jeggings, boots, and even curlier hair for Halloween. 10 points to anyone who can guess my potential costume for this year. I’ve worn the white one once with some pale blue shorts to lounge about in the garden with but to be honest, I don’t know why I buy so many white tops. I am the clumsiest person you will ever meet…apart from my Grandad, so they are prone to stains and spillage. During lockdown, I’ve become worse than before. I keep tripping over my own feet and one morning I dropped my breakfast outside and burst into tears. Actual tears. I keep telling Josh about my little hiccups and he keeps googling my ‘symptoms’ to see if there is something wrong with me, but I know it’s just me…being me!
Carmex Lip Balms
During the starting phase of lockdown where everyone was bulk buying loo roll and pasta, I was bulk buying Carmex lip balm. It’s become an obsession, but to be perfectly honest, they do wonders for your lips. I tend to forget about lip care when doing my skincare and it gets worse in summer, especially with dry chapped lips. Ew. I currently have all the ‘flavours’ but they keep announcing new ones so I will have to restrain myself from spending all my payday pay on lip balm…but I guess there are worse things I could be addicted to. When I was younger it was stationery, now it’s Carmex. Oh dear.
Pimkie Polka Dot Sundresses & Floppy Hat
If you don’t own one of these dresses, GET THEM. I love the polka dot* dress as you can wear a denim jacket or leather jacket with it and it will still look lush. They are the comfiest outfit for sitting in the garden or even going out for day drinks. They fit with your body shape but don’t hug too tight so I recommend getting your standard size, don’t size up or down. There’s nothing worse than being too hot and sweaty in an outfit that’s too tight. Team each dress with this floppy hat* of dreams and you’ve got an ace budget-friendly summer outfit! I bought the powder pink colour in a large and it fits perfectly.
