Date Night On A Budget Hacks

An estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time.

Or in other words…how to set a limit to how fancy you want to be for date night.

Here’s six ‘hacks’ to help you if you’re a bit tight for money.

P.S: I have not been asked to promote any brands featured in this blog.

Gourmet Society

Josh and I have JUST discovered this app!

You do have to pay for this app, which personally I find a bit weird as for any other discount app, you don’t need to pay to subscribe? But you do get to track how much you’ve saved every time you’ve used the app. Josh and I base our date nights on where we can get a discount, ha! I used my app for the first time at Bella Italia the other day and we saved 25% off our entire bill. We had two drinks, two pizzas and two desserts which should have been £47.54 but with this app, we only paid £35.66 – saving just under £12! Not too shabby!

There’s always a hidden bargain!

I remember yonks ago, I got a Patisserie Valerie Afternoon Tea for £19 for two people on Groupon. I mean what a steal – we couldn’t eat it all though, t’was too filling. If you decide on a restaurant, make sure to check Groupon beforehand – I’ve seen Bella Italia and Frankie & Benny’s on there ALL THE TIME, doing offers like two courses for just under £20. It is honestly the best if you’re wanting date night, but don’t want to splash out too much. It’s not just restaurants and bars you can get discounts on, there’s also experiences with special offers too.

Student Discounts

…I guess this only applies to one crowd, sorry!

I’m really going to miss having my student perks when I graduate. Josh and I have made a list of all the places I get discount so we can just pig out and get it for cheaper, ha! Currently, our top picks depending on discounts from UNiDAYS are Zizzi’s with 30% off the entire bill. I mean who doesn’t love Italian? Sticking with Italian cuisine, ASK Italian offer LOADS of student perks. 2 – 4 – 1 on THREE courses and drinks on a Monday…erm, yes pls. They also offer 40% off during the week too. I’m dying to take Josh to Yo!Sushi as he hasn’t been before AND students get 20% off on selected days!

Set Menus

I will keep promoting set menus until the day I die, they are the way to go.

I mention set menus on this little blog A LOT, but they honestly save you so much money and they limit menu choosing time too, ha! Trust me, Josh is so indecisive about what to get, they are a literal lifesaver for me. Our fave set menu at the moment is All Bar One as it’s REALLY CHEAP. £10.95 for two courses or £13.95 for three, they are literally giving away their food! Another good set menu is Bella Italia – two courses for £19.99 for two people on Groupon, I mean who doesn’t want cheap pizza and tiramisu?

If you don’t fancy going out, there’s always M&S’s dine in for 2 deal – it’s only £12 and you get a bottle of wine with it too!

Loyalty Cards

Plenty of bars and restaurants have them.

I know I seem to talk about All Bar One a lot on here but they do offer some good things! If you download their app, you get loads of discounts and freebies, as well as ordering at your table AND paying your bill – social anxiety WHO? Other places like Lucias and The Botanist do similar ones too but Josh and I tend to use All Bar One the most…you can get a free drink! Nandos is also a great one too – free food anyone? Josh and I must save a fortune there, every time I go in I’ve got something free on my card…we might just go too much!

Put some money aside each payday.

Put your spare change or a set amount of money away in a little ‘date’ pot each month, see what you have at the end of the month and go for a cute little drink out somewhere. Don’t forget, you can define what a date is. It doesn’t have to be a big fancy three-course meal, it can literally be a movie night in the comfort of your own home with a few snacks and drinks. Josh and I tend to get takeout Nandos and binge on Gogglebox, that’s a date to us, but then we do save and go for a big splash out meal sometimes. It’s all up to you!

See you soon,
