SUMMER LOOKBOOK: BATTLE OF THE BRANDS

Hello!

Isn’t this weather in the UK just LUSH?! It’s come just in time for my deadlines at university to appear a lot sooner than we all thought!

This blog will be quite a chatty one as I will be showing you my fave summer makeup products and comparing different brands or products from the same brand! This will be the first blog without any filtered photographs so you can get the true colours of the products. I also won’t be talking about mascaras because everyone’s preference is different for their lashes!

Oh, and if you missed my news in Monday’s blog, check it out here!

Enjoy!

*I AM NOT SPONSORED BY ANY OF THE BRANDS FEATURED IN THIS BLOG, JUST A FAN!*

FOUNDATION – BENEFIT VS SMASHBOX

Summer is usually the time where I sometimes ditch foundation because it’s just SO HOT, eugh and it’s not cool to have half of my base on my sunglasses. As I’ve mentioned before, I swear by Benefit’s Hello Flawless foundation BUT after today, I might have been swayed by another brand.

While having my regular browse in Boots and the lady at the Smashbox counter offered to give me a free sample of their primer if she could swatch their Studio Skin foundation to find my perfect shade. I have to say the Smashbox formula was lighter on my skin than Benefit however the colour is a tad lighter than my current foundation but matches my skin better.

I find it really hard to find a foundation which matches my exact skin tone which is affordable at the same time. Benefit have actually increased the price of their product, so Smashbox, at the moment, is cheaper!

EYES – MAC VS C.Y.O

I think summer is all about the light eye colours, giving everyone ‘the no make up’ makeup look. Last year, I bought MAC’s Amber Times Nine palette and wore it all summer long – as you can see from the worn pans, oops!

The colours are so summery and go with any outfit you plan to wear – I usually wore the matte shade ‘Cosy Grey’ for my base, ‘Georgia Peach’ all over to build up the peachy colour and ‘Don’t Tell’ in the outer corners and lower lashline.

I recently bought the C.Y.O (Create Your Own) Rainbow Warrior ‘Front Woman’ eyeshadow palette from Boots and I haven’t been disappointed. The palette itself is made up of eight shadows, two highlighters, a blush and lip colour. I don’t think I will wear the highlighters or blush as I have my go-to products that I know I suit but I have been wearing the pink shades to university as they give a nice shimmer to my eyes.

BLUSH – BENEFIT VS BENEFIT?!

Yes. I am doing it. Comparing the same brand’s products.

After switching to Benefit’s Dandelion blush, I was a bit disappointed. I understand the colour is meant to be brightening and give a splash of pink to your cheeks, but for me it does nothing. I don’t know if I’m not putting enough on or if my skin is too pale for this blush, but I will use this blush when I want a subtle tone to my cheeks.

HOWEVER, I will use my GALifornia blusher EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I LOVE IT. I raved about it in my first blog – check it out here if you missed it.

BRONZER – BENEFIT VS RIMMEL LONDON

I never ever used to bronze my face but then I met bloggers and vloggers. They changed the makeup game or at least mine. I don’t have to worry about tanning anymore, haha!

The first bronzer I bought was Rimmel’s Radiance Brick. It’s amazing as it can double as a highlighter and you can shine all day long – something Benefit’s Hoola doesn’t do! Personally, I choose Rimmel’s bronzer over Benefit as it matches my skin tone and I don’t look stupid with odd patches of brown powder all over my face!

I would use Benefit’s Hoola to contour though, something I am hopeless at!

HIGHLIGHT – BENEFIT VS RIMMEL…AGAIN!

Benefit’s High Beam highlighter is the best out of the two, I believe. Again, check out my first blog about my thoughts on this beauty!

I bought Rimmel’s Kate Sculpting palette when I was first looking at highlighters and again, it added the shimmer to my cheeks but wasn’t for me. The palette is good for a travel contour kit – the bronzer is a tad dark for my skin, even when I’ve blended it out for AAAAAAGES.

LIPS – TANYA BURR VS NYX

I’m going to be honest. I really can’t choose between the two.

Both shades are the same colour as my lips, maybe a tad darker but I will be switching between the two over the summer.

AAAAAAND THAT’S FRIDAY’S BLOG! GO GET OUT IN THAT SUN!
