Hello, welcome to the first edition of Indigo Violet Diaries! In this blog, I will be talking through my favourite everyday makeup products which I swear by. I will leave links as to where you can buy the products I use too!
*I AM NOT SPONSORED BY ANY OF THE BRANDS FEATURED IN THIS BLOG, JUST A FAN!*
For foundation, I use Benefit Cosmetics ‘Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow!’ in the fair ivory shade ‘Believe In Me’. It is a light to medium coverage base and you only need one pump of the bottle each time for your whole face! The foundation is a bit pricey even with 10% student discount but the money is worth it. The formula isn’t oily at all and has a matte finish. I love it – when I first started wearing makeup I only wore powder as my base because I wasn’t the biggest fan of foundation as I couldn’t find a shade which matched my skin but HOORAH! The Benefit counter managed to match me with the shade I now use.
For concealer, I use Rimmel London’s Wake Me Up concealer in the lightest shade ‘010 Ivory’ under my eyes to hide those dark circles from lack of sleep…I blame university! This concealer blends really well, it has a light formula so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any other product on top of your foundation. It’s a high street brand as well so it’s fairly cheap! To set my base, I use Rimmel’s #Insta Fix and Go setting spray, it’s a dream! It mattes your face and it’s refreshing when you spray your face too – added bonus!
For my eyes, I prime them with Collection’s ‘Primed and Ready’ Illuminating & Reviving Eye Primer – it feels a little weird when it’s first applied as it dampens your eyes and personally, it’s not the best of feelings, ha! However, it does its job and sets my eyeshadow.
For eyeshadow, I use The Body Shop’s Eye Colour Stick in ‘Cyprus Bronze’. It’s a matte dark bronze colour with a little glitter. It’s perfect for getting the ‘no makeup makeup look’ just right. It adds a bit of colour and makes your eyes sparkle too! The formula is smooth – after the first use. The first use is quite harsh to apply as it has a point-shaped tip. I use a base colour brush to brush the colour out on my lid so it doesn’t look uneven.
I adore Benefit’s mascaras and I believe I have all of their releases apart from one. The first mascara I used was their Roller Lash. The first few uses do make your lashes clump together but after the formula has dried out a bit, it’s brilliant. It curls your lashes to perfection and no need for a curler. The second mascara I purchased was their They’re Real mascara. I actually use both of these mascaras together as they really make it look like I’m wearing false lashes! They’re Real mascara lengthens your lashes yet feels so light. The final mascara I have from Benefit is their newest release BADgal BANG! The promotional material for this new mascara was AMAZING. The pink and glittery aesthetic Benefit used to advertise was just right – and the mascara is out of this world…as they advertise. Light formula and it volumizes every lash!
BLUSH, CONTOUR & HIGHLIGHT
I have only started to use blusher and highlighter only recently, personally, I like to keep my makeup to a minimum. I received a Benefit gift set for Christmas last year and the GALifornia blusher was featured. I haven’t stopped using it since! The picture above makes the powder look orange which is misleading because it’s actually a pale golden pink colour which when applied to cheekbones make it look like you’re naturally blushing – I LOVE IT! On top of my blusher, I use Benefit’s High Beam liquid highlighter which just adds a nice shimmer to my cheeks. It’s a pearly colour which compliments the GALifornia perfectly.
I don’t usually contour my face but when it gets into summer I might start using the Hoola bronzer powder, to be honest with you – I need to learn how to contour properly before leaving the house and looking ridiculous after a first attempt! If anyone has any tips, please contact me! If you’re like me, in the winter my lips become really chapped and horrible, eugh. I have found a miracle in the shape of Anatomicals lip balm specifically for chapped and cracked lips! It comes in a duo with a red-tinted lip balm, but I only started using the neutral lip balm yesterday and it’s already working wonders! I highly recommend!
AND THAT’S IT! IT LOOKS LIKE THIS (featuring the sun because it’s very rare we get that here in the UK in Spring!)
